How does a swarm of wild bees in your kitchen sound? Wait! Hold on! You also get free honey with that. Ah yes, we thought you’d come around.

Philips is envisioning a future where city dwellers become freelance beekeepers with the Urban Beehive, a concept device that is at once scary, awesome, and honey-filled. The pod-like hive attaches to a hole cut into a pane of glass. On the side facing outdoors, there’s just a small entryway for bees to come buzzing in. On the other side is – thankfully — the brown protective bubble, keeping the bees out of your Cheerios and inside their hive where you can watch them make sweet honey to in turn bring you Honey Nut Cheerio making capabilities. There’s even a small hole to blow smoke into. No, it doesn’t involve a recipe for contact high honey; it’s known to be one of the best ways to calm bees. Just in case you need to get in there and pet them.
