After originally being presented nearly 2 years by Jason Woods, the Kymera electric powered body board has undergone a series of improvements, and is nearly set for its official commercial release in 2013.

The Kymera body board allows users to power themselves through the water at speeds of up to 18 miles per hour thanks to the use of an electric motor. Seeing that electrical outlets are nearly impossible to come by near the shore, the Kymera will come with a solar charging station to help refuel the board. As of right now, there are 2 recreational models being developed, and an additional model being developed for rescue purposes. Retail price for the Kymera is currently set around $5,000, but Woods hopes that an increase in demand will allow him the opportunity to allow the price point to $2,000. Check out the Kymera in action below.
