2012 National Geographic Photos of the Year
National Geographic has officially selected the winners of the 2012 Photos of the Year contest, and all of the photography is stunning to say the least.
A wide variety of photos were included in the contest. Some of our personal favorites include the grizzly bear sniffing around for a midnight snack, a fox with his head stuck in the icy ground, and an amazing full moon photo of the iconic Matterhorn that was shot by Nenad Saljic among several others. With all of the stunning photography, it was quite difficult to select a clear winner. Ultimately the grand prize was awarded to the 1st place in the Place/Nature category, which was the photo showcasing a beautiful Indochinese tiger by the name of Busaba shaking herself dry after a bath. The photo was fittingly titled ‘The Explosion,’ and was taken by Ashley Vincent. Check all of the descriptions at National Geographic.
