HEIMPLANET has been in operation since 2009, producing rugged bags and inflatable camping tents that cater to more hardcore adventure-seekers, though in more recent times, the premium German outdoor brand has increasingly been marketing to off-road enthusiasts. And after recently partnering with AMC to deliver an all-electric, tent-equipped Alpha Wolf+ Cloudbreak truck, HEIMPLANET has tapped New Zealand’s CROOKED Motorcycles to craft a custom pair of Suzuki DR650 adventure bikes.
The aim of the twin “DR Bigs” was to deliver a visually appealing pair of heavy-weight dual-sports that were capable of covering vast distances off-road. As such, both bikes have been treated to custom subframes with integrated luggage racks and removable side racks, custom handmade leather and Alcantara MX-style seats with gel cushioning, and boxy and angular suites of aluminum bodywork including new tanks, side-covers, and custom-fabricated headlight cowls that house Gazzini LED units in front and Motogadget Motoscope Pro displays on the riders’ side. Other additions include reinforced suspension setups front and aft, a bespoke removable surfboard rack, HEIMPLANET 30-liter bags, new handlebars with lever guards and Motogadget grips, skid plates, crash bars, Baja Designs auxiliary LEDs, front dirtbike fenders, and single-gallon Rotopax water packs suspended from the rear fenders.
