Land Rover’s Defender is already one of the more capable off-road vehicles in its stock form, so once fitted with numerous performance upgrades and a bespoke camper shell, you’ve got something of the perfect compact yet livable overlander. And this was the logic behind this 1990 Defender 130 project from North Carolina’s Osprey Custom Cars, which has taken an existing Defender camper project and treated it to a slew of after-market parts to increase performance, comfort, and durability.
After being converted to a lefthand drive setup from an RHD configuration and given newer Defender seats, the 130 was fitted with LED headlights, new, more hardwearing tent materials, all-terrain tires, new transfer cases and driveshafts, entirely new braking hardware, an upgraded cooling system, new shocks and springs, a 12klb winch, a custom brush guard setup, and a new stereo and AC system. The camper is now powered by a new 300Tdi 2.5L four-cylinder diesel engine that’s been mated to a newer R380 5 speed manual transmission. This 1990 Land Rover Defender 130 Overland Camper By Osprey Custom Cars is currently for sale on the company’s website with an asking price of $99,950.
