As far as Japanese automobiles are concerned, the Toyota Land Cruiser is perhaps the best platform on which to build an adventure-ready overlander of all time — both from a style and capability standpoint. But, even with such a great starting point, there’s plenty that can go wrong. Luckily, the exact opposite is true for this absolutely stunning 1989 FJ62 you see before you.

One of Toyota’s larger, later four-door models, this was already a handsome 4×4 when it was first driven off the lot. But, after three decades, it’s benefitted from a superb renovation — turning it into the retro restomod you see before you. Boasting a factory 3F-E 4.0-liter inline-six engine, this off-roader’s modern updates include an ARB front bumper with a 9,000-pound capacity WARN winch, White Knuckle Off-Road sliders, a full-length roof rack basket with Rigid LED light bars at the front and rear, aftermarket wheels mated to all-terrain tires, and even a modern sound system. Fully serviced and ready for adventure, this vintage overlander is ready to see every inch of the world — even the hard-to-get-to ones.
