Blacksmith Engineering is a company passionate about reconstructing 4x4s to make them burlier off-road dominators with diesel blood. Their recent project is the 1987 Land Rover Defender ANV-LR1 and it’s an absolute modern monster.

Not much remains of the original military-spec Land Rover Defender 110 donor, as Blacksmith Engineering revamped the ride with Puma bonnet, KBX grill kit, 10,000-pound synthetic rope wireless remote-control winch, and more. The most impressive upgrade is the 4×4’s Cummins Diesel 3.9L 4BT turbo-diesel engine with 230 hp and 580 lb-ft of torque, which is amazing power for a diesel Defender. The engine was fitted to a new galvanized chassis by Rovers North and connected to a ZF five-speed manual transmission. It’s also equipped with a rebuilt LT230 transfer case and one-ton Land Rover axles to control the power bestowed upon the adventure ride. Taking a look inside, you’ll find Exmoor black leather heated seats, a Raptor Engineering center pod, and a custom headliner on the removable hardtop. Reach out to Blacksmith Engineering about this ride or for another custom 4×4 build.
