Creating a custom motorcycle that catches the eye and tugs at the heart of the petrol head in all of us takes some serious creative prowess. Sometimes, it even requires an eye that spends most of its waking moments outside of the bike-building industry. Marco Matteucci of Matteucci Garage is one such fellow, and as a photographer and graphic designer by day, it’s clear his eye for clean aesthetic carried over quite well in this quality build: the O2 Oxygen.
Built off a 1985 Moto Guzzi V35TT, this custom bike takes motivation from a key element in the air we breathe. He kept the traditional V-twin engine but made sure he cleaned and detailed it properly with his own aluminum trumpets with mesh ends. He also removed the entire back portion of the frame and added some one-off mudguards with lightweight brackets. And you can bet Matteucci didn’t forget to hand-bend the handlebars either in true bespoke fashion.
Moving forward, the fuel tank was fabricated using traditional panel beating methods and completed with a two-tone paint job to make those knee scallops really pop. Topping off the bike is also a comfortable cappuccino-colored Italian leather hide seat with a tail light neatly incorporated into the back end. The exhaust is short, functional, and proportionate to the agile 349cc engine. Because remember, it’s not all about speed and power. Sometimes you need to slow down, take a look around, and breathe deep, filling your lungs with that oh-so-sweet O2.
