This Supercharged Restomod Land Cruiser Is Damn Near Perfect

Japan’s take on the Willys Jeep CJ, the Toyota FJ Land Cruiser, was a brilliant experiment in how to take an already-amazing vehicle and make it even better. While they’re still being produced today, albeit with a very different personality, the older examples will always hold a special place in our hearts. That’s part of why we love the FJ Company and the restorations they perform.

In this case, we’re lucky enough to gaze upon a 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser G43-S they’ve restomodded for one of their customers. Brilliantly, they kept the exterior as classic as possible with the original steel body, an OEM 80s-style grille, and a tail-mounted jerry can. Under the hood and in the cabin, however, this is a modern beast. That’s because they’ve dropped in a Toyota 1GR-FE engine and equipped it with a Magnuson Supercharger — bringing the horsepower up to a total of 318. They’ve also fitted it with a custom stainless steel exhaust and BORLA ProXS muffler. Inside, this 4×4 has Recaro Specialist front seats, an Alpine touchscreen display compatible with Apple CarPlay, a new sound system, LED lighting, and more. The ideal blend of past and present, this Land Cruiser is damn near perfect.
