The Land Rover Defender will go down in the history books as one of the most capable off-road machines ever built. But even they have their limitations. This 1984 110 pickup truck, however, boasts a laundry list of upgrades that might make it the ultimate Defender-based 4×4 overlander ever built.
Powered by a 3.0-liter Isuzu turbo diesel, this monstrous SUV was built from the ground up to tackle almost literally any terrain. And the improvements are extensive, ranging from an upgraded and reinforced suspension, to a modern interior complete with leather upholstery and an up-to-date stereo system, to 16-inch Alcoa wheels with Michelin XZL tactical tires. It’s also got a massive roll cage with a rear racking system for all of your off-road gear, a snorkel exhaust for fording deep water, a WARN winch and beefy floodlights on the front end — the list just goes on and on. Dubbing anything as the “ultimate overlander” is bold and risky, but this $89,900 rig might actually deserve the title.
