Being a child of the 1980s, professional automotive photographer and custom vehicle builder, “Utah” Johnny Lange grew up admiring the van featured on the A-Team. And after previously completing a slew of other impressive projects, Lange has returned to the TV-famous Chevy van from his childhood, setting out to meticulously recreate the A-Team’s iconic adventure van.
Utah Johnny based the project on a 1984 Chevy G20, a model that’s pretty much identical to the GMC Vandura — the actual A-Team van donor model — save for some minor differences to the grille setup. After extensively researching the vans used for the show’s production, Lange proceeded to treat the G20’s exterior to a set of 14-spoke wheels, flared fenders, a lip kit, push bumpers front and aft, a rear spoiler, an array of grille- and roof-mounted auxiliary lights, and a replica A-Team livery. The fully insulated interior of the adventure van tribute is just as accurately detailed, with front and rear captains chairs, black walls with red accents and a red LED glow kit, custom cabinets, a bespoke overhead console that now accommodates a deluxe CB radio and realistic police scanner, and a custom “I pity the fool” embroidered carpets and one-off “I love it when a plan comes together” tread plate.
