1969 Ford Boss 429 Mustang By Classic Recreations

If you want to get your hands on a brand-new, all-original example of what is inarguably one of the best pony cars from the vehicle category’s heyday, the 1969 Ford Boss 429 Mustang, you’re out of luck. But it’s not the end of the world — not by a long shot — because the folks at Classic Recreations have just unveiled an officially-licensed version of that very car. And this one is even better than the original.

With all the same mean looks that make the Boss Mustang such a hit with muscle and pony car fanatics (the body is literally an original ’69 restored to factory conditions), this new version is a completely different beast under the hood. That’s because they’ve dropped in a custom-built 546ci crate engine, good for a monstrous 815 horsepower, and mated it to a Tremec manual transmission and a Centerforce DYAD twin disc clutch and flywheel. But the updates don’t stop there; this bad boy also features USA-made forged aluminum racing wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, a Kicker audio system, TMI seats, a custom console, and even A/C. The whole package is finished off in a menacing color called “Vengeance Black” — and they couldn’t have picked a more appropriate paint job. Pricing starts at $209,000.
