There’s something about performance pickups that ticks all the right boxes. Maybe it’s the notion of taking an otherwise utilitarian vehicle and force-feeding it some old-fashioned American muscle. Or, maybe, it’s simply the lunacy that’s bound to result from such a combination. In any case, super trucks never fail to command one’s attention — especially if they’re even half as sweet as this 1969 Chevrolet C40 Custom.
From the powerplant to the interior, this blacked-out C40 is the business. Under the hood, it sports a 6.0-liter LS engine with a 4L80 automatic transmission. In production cars, these crate engines produce some 300-plus horses, but with the addition of a set of HiFlow intakes and headers, there’s no doubt this V8 is maxed-out. But with power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, a Dana 44 front diff, and a G80 locking rear diff, this truck is much more than a straight-line sprinter. Inside, the C40 comes equipped with modern features in spades, including custom-upholstered seats, dual-power sunroofs, air conditioning, USB chargers, and a period-correct GM stereo. Rounding out the build is a set of 42×12 Hardcore wheels wrapped in 40×15.5 AMP off-road tires. But the best part is that this C40 Custom can be yours for $129,000.
