For as much curb appeal a classic ride can provide, there can be equally as much headache incurred from antiquated machinery that keeps a sweet rig parked more than driven. The FJ Company knows this tale all to well, with years of experience restoring vintage Land Cruisers, to which they have effectively nipped the issue in the bud with their 1967 FJ40 ‘Cloudmist’ restoration.
With the goal of bringing modern reliability and convenience to the bombproof FJ40 body and chassis, The FJ Company approached Cloudmist build as they do any other – a thorough stipping, cleaning, and refinishing of the entire truck. Small details appear right at home on the exterior of the Land Cruiser, like updating all of the lighting to LED, which brings 21st century vision to the late 60’s shell. Fresh suspension all around and 31-inch BFG All-Terrains prime the truck for an off-road assault, while a crate Toyota 1FZ Inline six cylinder was plunked in to provide the juice. Power steering and a disc brake package up front were added, giving the build much needed maneuverability while crawling through the backcountry. Capped off with a digital LED dash, USB charging outlets, and finished in black leather upholstery, this is one relic ride that won’t let you down.
