In 2018, Corvette Mike — a leading preowned and classic car dealership specializing in Corvettes — acquired one of the rarest and most-sought-after Corvette models of all time: an original matching numbers 1967 L-88. Fast forward to today, and the American sportscar specialist is now selling this wildly-prestigious ‘Vette.
Only offered between 1967 and 1969, the L-88 option was, in essence, a factory race kit available directly through the manufacturer. At the heart of the L-88 was a 500hp+ 427ci (7.0L) Big Block engine married to an M22 four-speed “Rock Crusher” transmission and fitted with a K66 transistorized ignition, weight-saving C48 heater delete, and a cowl-induction hood. This 1960s special also got upgraded J56 heavy-duty brakes and F41 suspension. One of only 20 specimens produced in 1967 (and one of 216 in total across the whole three-year run), this particular example was treated to an extremely-thorough, decade-long, ground-up, nut and bolt restoration. What really sets this Sunfire yellow coupe apart, however, is that it’s the only remaining example with its original stock engine still installed. Corvette Mike is currently letting this elite specimen go for a cool $3.95M and while that’s a lot of money, the last ’67 L-88 coupe sold was in 2014 and fetched $3.85M (which is close to $4.2M today when adjusted for inflation).
