The market for old-school vehicle restorations is booming, and with everything from bespoke Land Rovers, Broncos, and muscle cars making their timely reemergence, one Idaho-based company has decided to offer something even more unique. Enter Rtech Fabrications — a small team of automotive aficionados from Coeur d’Alene — and their rambunctious 1966 Chevy Ponderosa.
The Chevy Ponderosa is no stranger to the spotlight. After its release in 1964, the Crew-Cab dually made a name for itself as one of the automaker’s premier workhorses and was seen everywhere, from rugged, outdoor ranching areas, all the way to Middle-America’s most prominent cities. After growing fond of the vehicle and its history, the team at Rtech Fabrications decided to specialize in the bespoke restoration of Chevy’s prized pickup, turning the once-begotten Crew-Cab into an elongated example, outfitted with an additional backseat and two extra doors. New Dana 60 dually axles, crossover steering components from Offroad Design, and 37″ Nitto Trail Grappler tires make the platform even more capable, working alongside 5165-Series Bilstein shocks and a 550-horsepower 5.9L Cummins Diesel engine to create the ultimate, modernized ride. On the truck’s exterior, you’ll find a pristine GenRock light green paint, supplied by one of the most trusted shops in the area. If you’re interested, head to Rtech’s website to secure your own for around $150,000.
