As if the ’66 Chevelle wasn’t American enough, the good people over at Ringbrothers, owned and operated by brothers Jim and Mike Ring, decided some good old American muscle was in order to bring this old ride from handsome to downright scary. It’s called the Recoil, and it was quite the showstopper at SEMA a couple year’s back.
Apart from it’s near mint condition appearance, the Recoil packs a mean punch thanks to a Whipple-supercharged Wegner Motorsports LS7 engine offering an output of a jaw-dropping 980 horsepower. It’s fed via a Holley Fuel Injection System outfitted with an Aeromotive fuel cell and pump while a Flowmaster exhaust system lets this beast roar to life in true fashion. It also rides atop a set of HRE wheels wrapped in 275/35/19 tires up front and a massive set of 345/30/20 tires in the rear. And it’s not just the exterior of this Chevelle that’s race-ready either. The interior features five-point racing harnesses and a Racepak gauge cluster in custom made billet housing to keep all the car’s vital signs in check. Recoils “Sand Storm” paint job is also finished with hand-laid carbon fiber panels and trim pieces. Cleary a ride fit for a king, or someone just crazy enough to get behind the wheel of this thing on the racetrack.
