When Carroll Shelby had the bright idea to wedge a small-block Ford V8 engine into an AC chassis and body, he changed the face of racing and the automotive industry forever. Undoubtedly, the Shelby Cobra 289 will go down in automotive history as one of the most important cars ever built. And now’s your chance to own an absolutely stunning 1964 year model.

While the 289 has an interesting overarching racing history and a remarkable pedigree, this particular example has its own story — including having won first in its class at the 1967 SCCA Nationals and even beating the track record by a full second. Since then, it’s also benefitted from a complete and meticulous restoration that has brought it back to top form. But you should expect a racer as magnificent as this one to cost quite a bit. In fact, you’ll have to get in touch with the folks at Auxietre & Schmidt if you want to know the price — which will undoubtedly be well over $1M.
