Aston Martin has undoubtedly created some of the finest looking vehicles of the past century, but the UK-based manufacturer’s line of renowned automobiles might not be what it is today without the help of the DB4 GT — a pinnacle of Martin’s style and poise. Now, one of the brand’s most immaculate offerings is listed for sale — a 1961 DB4 GT Zagato owned by the family that birthed the prestigious coachwork.

As one of only 19 Aston Martin DB4 GTs to ever adorn the Zagato coach, this 1961 offering utilizes a unique left-hand drive system that was implanted in only seven other cars. The aptly named 0181 was originally built for Dr. Elio Zagato, the son of the Zagato brand’s founder, and included numerous upgrades that came at the special request of its owner. Tubular bumpers, an air-scooped bonnet, chrome script fitted to the car’s dashboard, and Carello headlights are only a handful of items that were exclusive to Elio’s DB4, which was raced in numerous Italian road and track events during his ownership. In the mid-1960s, the vehicle was sold to its new owner and dressed in the metallic green that you see today. Eventually, the DB4 GT was acquired by Aston Martin expert Richard Williams, who painstakingly restored the vehicle to its original condition via one of the world’s premier Aston Martin restorers, RS Williams. Now, the iconic vehicle is seeking a new owner and has been listed for sale by the experts at Fiskens.
