While we certainly don’t shy away from all-electric powertrains, we’ve found that a lot of modern electric cars lack the spot-on styling found in old classics. And it appears the folks at U.K. firm, Charge, share that sentiment. When it came time to build their own electric-powered ride, they opted to outfit some classic 1960s Ford Mustangs instead of building something from scratch.

Yes, these cars (which will include both fastbacks and convertibles) boast officially licensed bodies — meaning they’re styled exactly like the original pony cars from back in the day. Under the hood is a completely different story, however, as they will feature a high-tech engine mated to a 64kWh battery that gives them the ability to do 0-62 in a monstrous 3.09 seconds, offers a range of over 124 miles per charge, and has a whopping 885 ft-lb of torque. Not only that, but the modern drivetrain will also feature all-wheel-drive for superb traction in all conditions. This state-of-the-art classic is supremely limited, with only 499 ever to be made at an intro price of $256,000. And they’re taking reservations right this moment, so you better be quick.
