Nike’s Air Force 1 is one of the most iconic sneakers ever made, having graced the feet of such basketball luminaries as Moses Malone and Michael Cooper in the 1980s. These days, the sneaker is more renowned for its iconic fashion status than its on-court prominence, and that reputation looks to grow even more thanks to fashion studio 1017 ALYX 9SM’s rendition of the kicks.
ALYX’s version of the Air Force 1 Hi incorporates a number of luxe materials into the sneaker’s construction. The upper is made from premium tumbled, full-grain, pebbled Nappa leather with an aniline finish that’s been dyed with ECCO sustainable dye process. The full-grain Nappa leather lining has a chrome finish that’s silky to the touch, providing a luxurious wearing experience. Materials aside, the biggest change to the shoe is a stylistic one. ALYX has added leather straps around the ankle with anodized aluminum Cobra-style buckles that secure at the tongue. The straps give the shoes a more modern look and help to update the silhouette to today’s trends. Available in white or black, the ALYX Air Force 1 Hi sneakers are priced at $461 and can only be purchased via raffle.
