$1 Billion Minnesota Vikings NFL Stadium

The Minnesota Vikings have officially unveiled the design plans for their new NFL stadium, and this thing is nothing short of amazing. I guess for nearly $1 billion it should be though.

Minnesota isn’t known for its fantastic weather. In fact, it’s Siberia like climate is not only one of the least desirable to live in, it’s also harsh on the buildings in the surrounding areas (see Metodome roof collapsing from too much snow). The city has considered all of the potential weather related issues in their new stadium design. The highlight of the stadium is certainly the use of the world’s largest transparent roof. Instead of going with glass, the designers opted for a durable ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) material that will withstand the harsh weather conditions. The new stadium will cost around $975 million, will seat 65,000 fans, and will see the Vikings play their first game here at the start of the 2016 NFL season.
