Auction Block: 1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe

We have seen a lot of stupendous barn finds in our time – from Ferraris, to Dodge Chargers, and more. And while so many of them are wonderful discoveries, there are few, if any, worth of being likened to the Holy Grail. This 1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe (the first ever road car to feature a four cam engine), which is headed to auction, comes dangerously close.

This particular vehicle has a fairly long and interesting history, having originally been sold one Lt. Col. Lassiter Thompson of the U.S. Air Force and then changing hands several times until the early 1970s – where it sat in static storage until now. The car remains in original unrestored condition (though it will require a lot of work, as barn finds always do), even so far as that many of the original parts are stamped with the chassis number. It even comes with a tool roll full of original tools, a Porsche certificate of authenticity, and the original factory Kardex. If you’re looking for the ultimate fixer-upper sports coupe, you can get your hands on this one for an estimated $600,000 – $700,000.

Purchase: $600,000+
