Not too long ago Danner Boots announced a new boot with an uncharacteristic feature – a woven upper material. Now, hot on their heels, legacy outdoor brand The North Face is coming out with their own woven hiking boot, the Ultra Fastpack III GTX.
Usually when one thinks about a boot – what comes to mind is something that is sturdy, tough, and maybe a bit heavy. The newest release from the Alameda, California-based brand is all of those things, minus the heavy part. This is thanks to the hiker’s unique woven nylon upper and accompanying Gore-Tex laminate. The two materials put together make for a comfortable and weatherproof boot that is ideal for wearing through wet or dry weather. In addition to these features, The North Face also placed TPU units on the toe and heel to protect from the kind of abrasion you’d expect to see on a boot. All things accounted for, the upper combined with the FastFoam dual density midsole and Vibram Megagrip outsole weigh in at just 11.7 ounces. No word on when we’re going to see these on shelves, but we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later. [H/T: GearJunkie]
