Options are good, but sometimes they can get in the way. Take your desk chair for instance. Reach under your seat and you’ll likely find all kinds of knobs, switches, and levers. Steelcase is sick of those things. So to help kill them off, they developed the Silq office chair.
Rather than relying on a complicated assemblage of levers and handles to adjust your preferred posture, this sleek, comfortable chair from Steelcase uses a carbon fiber-like material. While this new plastic behaves like the popular material, it actually costs much less to produce. Developing the ‘high performance polymer’ as Steelcase is calling it, took the expertise of engineers with experience designing and building everything from office desks to nuclear submarines. From what we can see all of this work paid off. The chair is incredibly attractive without having sacrificed anything in terms of style. Who knows, if you get one of these you may actually be excited to come to work.
