1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 By The FJ Company

It is not too often that a build is executed so perfectly that it inspires a line of custom vehicles, even for a brand that is named in homage to the vehicle type they specialize in. The FJ Company has been churning out the cream of the crop of classic Toyota Land Cruiser restorations for nearly a decade, and this 1981 FJ43 was done so well it became the face for their newly announced Signature Line.

As with all FJ Company builds, this little truck saw a full frame off tear down to get every nook and cranny buffed out before being rebuilt with fresh fitting all around. The chassis sees the addition of upgraded Fox Racing Shox, Old Emu leafs, and disc brakes at all four wheels. A new Toyota 1GR-FE 4.0-Liter V6 gets squeezed into the retro rig’s engine bay, supplying 240 hp to the meaty BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires. The cab was modified with a custom canvas soft top featuring removable sides and a roll back lid for a convertible sunroof. Production will be limited for the signature line though, as only 24 units are scheduled to be produced this year.
