1998 Land Rover Bowler Tomcat

In the late 80’s, Drew Bowler set his sights on producing a safari ready Land Rover that would dominate the UK off-road racing scene. He got to work fabricating the ultimate rally machine, and after about a decade of improvements, the 1998 Bowler Tomcat became the pinnacle of competitive dirt racing vehicles.

Trimming off the fat from a Land Rover Defender, this build starts with a tubular steel frame sprouting from the stripped down chassis to create a structure for the fiberglass body to rest on. The suspension gets an upgrade with Fox Racing Shox and beefed up axles front and rear, bulletproof modifications needed to make the Defender race ready. With all creature comforts removed internally, Sparco racing seats, a CB radio and intercom, rally computer, and a long range fuel cell were installed, all necessary upgrades for long distance cross-country smashing. Xenon auxiliary lighting and an engine snorkel cap off the build, ensuring the Tomcat will see and breathe in any environment.
