MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept Car

Most people think of Mini as a brand that builds cute little sub-compacts that are about as city-friendly as cars go. They forget that – with the help of the Cooper Car Company – Mini went on to win three Monte Carlo Rally championships in the ’60s. Well now, with the help of John Cooper Works (a new tuning brand started by John Cooper’s son, Michael), they’re looking to remind people of their heritage via the new GP Concept car.

Though Mini has yet to release information on the vehicle’s performance specs, the styling would suggest that this is certainly going to be a track-trampling titan of a race car. Some of it’s notable external styling cues include a honeycomb grille, a hood scoop and large air intakes, 19″ Racetrack wheels, carbon fiber skirts, and a beefy custom hood spoiler. Inside, you’ll find a stripped-down cockpit with 5-point harness bucket seats, paddle shifters, and a digital HUD. All in all, this car promises to be a wonderful addition to the Mini lineup – one that we’d be proud to drive.
