Interestingly enough, when it was first created in 1989, the Land Rover Discovery was actually the budget version of the brand’s Range Rover SUV. Since then, things have changed quite a bit – especially with the release of the newest version, an off-road focused 4-door called the Land Rover Discovery SVX.
It should come as no surprise that this show-stopper, which was revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show, is the most powerful Discovery model ever created – boasting a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of producing about 518 horsepower. But, the biggest highlight is actually a bit more tech-oriented: a hydraulic-driven Active Roll Control system which helps with everything from wheel articulation, to body control, to off-road traction, and more. And, as icing on the cake, the SVX also has center and rear locking differentials, a raised air suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, a fully-featured interior, and a pistol grip shifter. A release date, pricing, and availability should be announced in the near future.
