Usually when a designer collaborates with a clothing brand, the two create something entirely new. Thankfully for us, Junya Watanabe is just about as far from ‘usual’ as you can get. Just take a look at the Junya Watanabe Man x The North Face Duffle Bag Remakes and you’ll see what we mean.
Rather than wiping the canvas clean and starting with something totally untouched, Junya chose instead to use The North Face’s rugged duffel bags as his source material for a whole line of jackets. The resulting outer-layers are totally unique – featuring oversized logos, rugged straps and hardware, and serious waterproofing. In addition to using the tough PVC duffle bag fabrics, Watanabe also equipped the interior of the jackets with backpack straps – allowing wearers to shuck the jacket without actually taking them off. A limited number of the seven styles are available now – but likely not for long.
