We’re all too familiar with the brief lifespan of the now antiquated DeLorean sports car made famous by the Back to the Future franchise. Now, the nephew of founder John DeLorean is looking to take the futuristic profile of the brand to the next level – with a flying car.
Dubbed the DR-7, it’s the brain child of DeLorean Aerospace, founded in 2012 by Paul DeLorean. All told the flying car – outfitted for personal transport – is slated to be a two seater vehicle complete with four wings and a pair of winglets to help harness the power generated by a centerline twin vectoring propulsion system. It’s sleek aerodynamic body also creates a low drag and it’s also fully electric with a range of 120 miles. So far, the prototype for this ride measures in at 20 feet long by 18.5 feet wide but DeLorean has announced plans to have the vehicle fold down helping it fit comfortably in a standard garage when the day’s errands are through.
