1965 Ford Shelby GT350R By OVC

No matter where you stand in the world of vehicular fandom, you should recognize that Carroll Shelby and his crew altered the car landscape in an irreversible way. That started with their 1965 Ford Shelby GT350. Well, now a trio of that car’s original engineers have joined together to revive it under the name Original Venice Crew – only this time, they wanted to make it better.

One of the biggest setbacks Peter Brock, Jim Marietta and Ted Sutton faced in creating the original was a lack of time and money. With those obstacles now well out of the way, they decided to building the car they’d originally set out to create in 1965. This new GT350R starts with a fully-reconditioned classic mustang body and is outfitted just like the original GT350Rs – with a competition-ready interior, a 281 horsepower engine built around a cast iron block from the Carroll Shelby Engine Company mated to a 4-speed gearbox, and a new front valance and reworked windows. Pricing on this gorgeous revitalized classic has yet to be announced.
