Typewriter Guns By Eric Nado

“A war of words” is a fairly common turn of phrase in our world, especially thanks to the anonymity of the internet. In general, the term refers to lengthy verbal or written arguments between people. And while the medium is perhaps a bit antiquated, we like to think that it is this increasingly modern phrase that inspired Canadian artist √Čric Nado to create his ‘Typewriter Guns’ series – a collection of old writing machines reconstructed to look like firearms.

Yes, first and foremost, these are non-functional guns. And while that might be a drawback to some, we are taken aback by the sheer force of technical creativity it must have taken to meticulously morph these machines from one form into the other. But that’s a part of Mr. Nado’s style – taking familiar, nostalgic objects and changing them into contemporary sculptures. And we can tell you, we’d happily hang any of these in our homes. But, they’re extremely limited. In fact, each is one-of-a-kind. So, if you’re drawn to these sculptures, you’ll want to look into picking one up sooner than later. They sell for $2,800 each.
