There is hot sauce, and then there is really really really hot sauce. Like, the stuff that people only eat on dares. For a long time, (since 1868 to be exact) Tabasco has been firmly in the former category. With the release of Tabasco Scorpion Sauce, however, all of that has changed.
This devilish concoction was made by blending guava, pineapple, and a little bit of the original Tabasco sauce with the near-lethally hot scorpion pepper. The result, according to the company, is a sauce that is a full 20 times hotter than the Tabasco you put on your eggs this morning. We’re talking at least 40,000 scovilles here. It looks like they’ve already sold out online – but chances are there are still a few available back at the original home of Tabasco, in Avery Island, Louisiana.
