250 years. That’s about how long Guinness has been brewing their signature Irish stout. It’s pretty much the definition of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But that kind of long-term consistency doesn’t mean that the brand doesn’t have any aces up their sleeves. In fact, they’ve just announced a new brew release: the Guinness Milk Stout.
Sure, milk stouts aren’t anything new. In fact, they’ve existed for a very long time. But, this is the first time that Guinness has taken a swing at one – and that’s what makes it noteworthy. Combining their centuries-worth of dark beer-brewing expertise with the addition of lactose to the recipe promises to create something as memorable as it is refreshing and enjoyable, without going too far off the rails. With just a bit of smokiness, slight hints of toffee and caramel, and enough bitterness to match the sweet taste the lactose adds, this new chapter in the Guinness book is set to be a good one.
