Everyday Carry: OD Green

During World War II, American soldiers (also known as GIs) were issued standard combat fatigues that came in a specific shade of green known as ‘olive drab.’ It was for this reason that infantrymen began to refer to their fighting uniforms as “ODs” for short. Though The U.S. Armed Forces officially replaced this form of green in 1952 with one called ‘Olive Green’ (which was subsequently replaced by woodland camo), the color remains to this day a favorite shade of craftsmen and designers in the everyday carry gear space. Whether you’re looking to add a bit of old-school military style flair to your gear or you just want something that stands out a bit amongst the all-too-common grays and blacks, it can be found adorning many superb pieces of EDC gear – like those pictured here.
