The only thing cooler than seeing a well-restored or rebuilt classic Land Rover is probably finding a mostly original one that has gone on some big adventures. Even if you can’t say that you were there, it’s still so cool to know that a vehicle has been to the ends of the earth and, somehow survived. That’s the case with this 1966 Land Rover 109 Series IIA Dormobile, at least. And now it’s up for auction.
This vehicle – which features an onboard propane two-burner stove, a dry sink, a dual-cot fold-open camper top, and a believed-to-be original 2.25 liter four-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive – was first purchased by a big game hunter who took the vehicle on an actual African safari. It has since switched hands a few times, but remains in working condition thanks to regular servicing. It may not be perfect, but this camper Land Rover is still one of the coolest vehicles we have ever seen. The auction – which is going on now – can be found on Bring A Trailer. [Purchase]
