October is right around the corner and with it you can expect to start seeing Halloween gimmicks emerge from every cobweb-covered corner of both the real and digital worlds. And while we can do without all of the everyday products masquerading in ghoulish packaging (shame-on-you, panderers), there are a few things that pop up here and there that are worth another look. Like these garlic pepper Doritos chips from Frito-Lay Japan.
Although the packaging bears all the hallmarks of a deceitful holiday scheme – a design consisting of bats, a graveyard, a stereotypically spooky house, and the profile of a vampire that looks suspiciously like Bela Lugosi as Dracula – the chips inside are not, in fact, a member of the normal line of Doritos cleverly renamed. In fact, these nightmarish black chips have a garlic pepper flavor that’s sure to send even the boldest of blood-suckers back to the grave. Unfortunately, they are only presently available in Japan, so if you want to get your hands on a bag, you’d better jump on a plane before the Strigoi jump on you. [Purchase]
