It’s safe to say if mass transportation offered the same level of comfort and next-gen tech that one can get in an automobile, more people might use it. While that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon, the latest concept video by British studio PriestmanGoode seems to close the gap and paints a pretty sweet picture for London’s next subway system.
The proposed $4 billion project includes trains with wider doors, improved wheelchair access, and up to a 50% increased car capacity. The ride promises to be much more enjoyable with air-conditioning, built-in Wi-Fi, recessed LED lighting, digital screens, and stylish seating. Transport for London commissioned PriestmanGoode to create the design, with the goal being a more effective and comfortable subway system and a look that’s distinctively London, and one that can last for at least 40 years.
