Fred “Krugger” Bertrand, owner of Krugger Motorcycles and on the short list of the best motorcycle builders in the world, has hatched something crazy and beautiful and crazy beautiful from what was once a modest BMW K1600. Now, it’s a work of art.
BMW of France wanted to see what Krugger could do with one of its bikes and gave him free reign, just as long as he kept the 161 hp engine and the electronics in place. Aside from that, everything was redone, including the hand-built aluminum and steel bodywork that looks like it should be hanging in the Guggenheim. The chassis wrapping the engine was totally transformed into something much longer and lower, while the radiators were moved to the side to put the six exhaust pipes on display. Some 3,000 hours later, Krugger stepped back to see this Art Deco masterpiece. Bravo.
